What Terminoo is not
Your photo never leaves your phone.
Official mail is private. Terminoo was built so it stays that way, from the moment you photograph it.

Questions people ask
When can I download it?
Now, on iPhone: Terminoo is on the App Store. The Android version is in preparation for Google Play. There is no waiting list and no sign-up. This page will say so when the Android version is out.
Which letters does it work with?
Official letters in German about benefits, tax, residence and health insurance, from the Finanzamt (a Steuerbescheid, for example), the Jobcenter or the Agentur für Arbeit, the Familienkasse about Kindergeld, the Ausländerbehörde, or your Krankenkasse. A clear photo of the letter lying flat gives the best result.
How is this different from Google Translate or DeepL?
A translation gives you the same official sentence in another language, and it is often just as hard to follow. Terminoo explains what the letter means in plain words, picks out the deadline and reminds you before it passes, checks the payment details against the letter, and explains official terms where they appear. The photo of your letter stays on your phone.
Does Terminoo give legal advice?
No, and it is built not to. It describes what a letter says; it does not recommend a course of action. It will tell you that the letter states you may object within one month. It will not tell you to object, and it will not tell you whether objecting is a good idea. It does not draft replies and it is not a tax advisor.
For what to actually do, ask a lawyer, a Steuerberater, or a free advice service.
Can the explanations be wrong?
Yes. The explanation is produced by a language model, and the app says so on every letter. Where Terminoo and your letter disagree, your letter is right. Terminoo shows you where in the scan each figure came from, so checking is one tap.
What happens to the photo I scan?
It is encrypted with a key held in your phone's own secure hardware and stored where only Terminoo can reach it. It is never uploaded, and never added to your photo library. It is deleted with the letter, or by "Delete everything".
What exactly gets sent for analysis?
The letter's text after redaction, the language you chose, today's date on your device (so "within two weeks" can be resolved against something), a schema version number, and one scrambled identifier for your installation.
That identifier exists to count how many letters an installation has left. Your phone's value is never sent. A one-way scrambled version is, and the server scrambles it again before storing anything. It is not attached to any letter: nothing can say which letters were explained, only how many.
The photo is never sent.
Which languages does it support?
English, Arabic (with full right-to-left layout), Turkish, Polish, Romanian, Spanish, French, Ukrainian and Russian. You choose the language in the app; it does not have to match your phone's.
Is it free?
Partly. Every install includes 3 letters, and 1 more is added each month up to a maximum of 3 saved at a time. Scanning, deadlines, reminders and every letter you have already had explained stay free. Only reading a new letter with AI is counted. Beyond that there is Terminoo Plus at €3.99 a month or €29.99 a year, or a one-off pack of 30 letters for €5.99.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no account, no email address, no password and no profile. If you buy something, the app store handles the payment. We never see your name, your address or your card.
Can I delete everything later?
Yes, at any time, from Settings. "Delete everything" removes every letter, every stored photo and every setting, and cannot be undone. You can export a copy of it all first if you want to keep one.
